Bonefish, Tarpon & Permit Fly Fishing:

ROD:

  • 8wt bonefish rod
  • 10wt for windy days and bigger game

REELS:

  • with wt forward floating line that matches your rod
  • at least 250 yds of backing intermediate line optional

FLIES:

  • Custom tied flies will be supplied, you can bring your own flies if you like.

Suggested patterns:

  • All-around fly: brown/white Clouser minnow
  • Merkin crabs for permit
  • Crazy charlies & other classic bonefish patterns in brown/olives, sizes 2 + 4
  • standard decievers for bigger game

LEADERS:

  • bonefish tapered leaders, 9ft in 8 to 10lb test
  • tarpon leaders, 16# test, with 60# shock tippet

CLOTHES:

  • Swimming trunks
  • light material long sleeve shirt, and dry T-shirts
  • Wide rim hat (collapsible w/chin strap)
  • Polarized sunglasses are imperitive
  • Sunscreen, a must! (45 SPF or higher)
  • Shoes- for the flats, boots or booties are fine
  • Boatshoes- topsiders or sandals can be worn when not fishing
